COP BASTARD Gameplay: What You Actually Do in the Game
The core loop explained: shoot, dive, slow time, repeat.
COP BASTARD gameplay is built on one loop: burst into a room, trigger slow motion, dive past return fire and clear the corridor before time snaps back. It is a deliberately old-school corridor shooter set in 1990s Osaka, and it removes nearly every modern FPS convenience on purpose.

The core combat loop
Every encounter in COP BASTARD is a short, violent conversation. You enter a corridor or room, yakuza gunmen open fire, and you answer with a mix of slow-motion aiming and diving repositioning. The time-bend is generous enough to use constantly, and the dive gives you a mobile dodge that keeps fights moving.
What the game deliberately removes
COP BASTARD strips out systems that modern shooters treat as standard:
- No ADS aiming. You shoot from the hip, arcade style.
- No upgrades or perks. There is nothing to grind and nothing to unlock mid-campaign.
- No skill trees. Your improvement comes from learning encounter layouts.
- No cover system. Motion is your armor.
Story presentation
Between firefights, the story plays out through Max Payne-style comic panels, with detective Katashi working his way up the yakuza food chain in 1990s Osaka. The presentation is one of the game's signature touches, and you can read more about it in our story overview.

Endless Mode
Beyond the roughly six-hour campaign, Endless Mode drops you into repeatable combat challenges while Steam leaderboards track both your score and your deaths. It turns the combat loop into a score-chasing arcade game. Details are in our Endless Mode guide.
